Tables featured expensive red-velvet linens and rare scarlet orchids. "There had to be red chairs, cushions, even red floating candles," says a source. "In the end, the room looked unbelievable." But beauty comes at a price. One insider estimated that the presentation "had to cost at least $50,000." Cher, however, knows it takes money to make money: The event raised over $5.5 million for the charity. Cher knows what she likes: Rare orchids can sell for over $25 a stem.
